When we designed the Flippouch modular system, we debated: one clip or two? After testing with 100 beta users, the answer was clear – people need both. Cash clip and money clip serve different cash‑carrying styles. Here’s how to choose.
Cash clip: for folded bills.
The cash clip is designed for currencies that are commonly folded once – US dollars, Canadian dollars, British pounds. It has a shallow jaw (15mm) and medium spring tension. To use it, fold your bills in half and slide them under the clip. The clip grips the middle of the stack, leaving the ends free.
Best for: Daily carry, local currency, quick access.
Capacity: 1-10 folded bills.
Weight: 4 grams.
Attachment: Magnetic snap lock.
Money clip: for unfolded bills.
The money clip is for currencies that are rarely folded – euros, yen, Swiss francs, Australian dollars. These bills are larger or made of polymer that resists folding. The money clip has a wider jaw (25mm) and lighter tension. It grips the short edge of unfolded bills.
Best for: Travel, foreign currency, large‑denomination notes.
Capacity: 1-8 unfolded bills.
Weight: 3 grams.
Attachment: Magnetic snap lock.
Side‑by‑side comparison.
| Feature | Cash Clip | Money Clip |
|---|---|---|
| Bill orientation | Folded once | Unfolded |
| Jaw depth | 15mm | 25mm |
| Tension | Medium (0.8N) | Light (0.4N) |
| Ideal for | USD, GBP, CAD | EUR, JPY, AUD |
| Thickness added | 4mm | 3mm |
Can you use both?
No – they attach to the same mounting point. You choose one clip at a time. However, you can also use the pouch for coins and carry cash in a clip. Some power users switch clips based on their destination: cash clip for local errands, money clip for international trips.
Which should you start with?
If you live in the US, UK, or Canada, start with the cash clip. Folded bills are second nature. If you live in Europe, Japan, or Australia, start with the money clip. Unfolded notes fit your currency better.
Real user feedback.
“I started with the cash clip for daily use. Then I traveled to Japan and bought the money clip separately. It was perfect for yen. Now I swap them out depending on my trip.” – Mark, frequent traveler.
“I don’t carry cash often, so I just use the cardholder alone. But when I go to farmer’s markets, I attach the cash clip. It holds bills securely without bulk.” – Sarah, minimalist.
Part of a bigger system.
Both clips are part of the Flippouch modular design. You can buy the cardholder core with one clip and later add the other. Or buy the “Traveler’s Set” that includes both clips plus the pouch.
Built to last materials.
Both clips are made from spring steel (SAE 1075) with a black oxide coating for corrosion resistance. The spring steel is heat‑treated to maintain tension over thousands of cycles. We guarantee the clip will not loosen for at least 10 years of daily use.
For EDC gifts for men or EDC gifts for women who travel or carry cash.
Choose the clip that matches their currency habits. Or give both – the modular system makes it easy to expand later.
The fan‑open cardholder shows more surface area of each card, and the right clip keeps your cash organized. Flippouch is the slim wallet that handles both.
